Make sure you check the voltage and/or ohms on that Ballast Resistor Randy! They can fail in a way where they don't do any resisting, and can cook the coil (or damage the points if so equipped and the factory wiring uses the ballast to lower the voltage there as well.) I was just helping another Datsun enthusiast with an ignition issue - and we found a secondary issue where the ballast had failed and was delivering full power to the coil (which can be an issue if the coil isn't rated for 12v)
Re: The Adventure Begins- My 620 build thread
Thanks for the heads up Paul! Probably saved me a coil. I've been fixing a few wiring issues, but most of that so far has been eliminating wires that were owner installed to run a variety of Rube Goldberg stuff. I've also been finding some chewed wiring I've had to fix.

The 32-36 Weber carb arrived today with all the associated adaptions for a Datsun motor. Spent time this evening assembling everything. Still a ways away from bolting the manifold back on, but getting closer.

Re: The Adventure Begins- My 620 build thread
Mounted new Toyota TRD wheels and tires this morning. Have round Datsun center stickers coming, which will be affixed to the center caps. Continued ripping out the carpet and cleaning the floors, which are amazingly clean and rust free. Ron Q came over this morning, and with his help we were able to drill out the broken thermostat bolt and tap the head for new threads. This averted a much bigger job (thank you Ron!!!).

Great progress buddy. I have a fantastic PDR guy who could straighten that sheet metal... definitely would be worth the effort.
Not quite sure I'm feeling the wheels... The car Paul is referring to is Alice. She was acting up and he nailed the diagnosis.
BTW, you can get RaptorLiner paint-matched to the body color, and if you spray it at a lower PSI, it lays down smoother (not that shitty sandpapery texture).
I'll dig through my parts cabinet, I may still have some L18 bits from my Dime.

Re: The Adventure Begins- My 620 build thread
Thanks Greg, do you mean PDR Tony? There are a load of dents on the 620. Not sure I could afford the cost of the whole truck . Wheels are definitely a personal thing. Reserving judgement till the center caps are done. Definitely trying to keep this a budget build and the "like-new" TRD wheels were a steal for $150. Plan to drop the truck 2-3" which will change the look of the wheels. Definitely liking your suggestion to spray body color Raptor Liner rather than traditional black. Any L-18 bits you may have would be much appreciated, Thanks Bud!

I am jealous, everyone (at least Randy and Greg) with their new butterscotcheryish colored Datsuns! Lol.
